Foiling.

A weaving update!
so excited.

So on Friday, in weaving, we completed my previous piece of weaving ( the alpaca wool) and then decided I wanted to add foil to it, but instead of ruining my 1st piece I made a small sample of the same style of weaving to foil over. I'm so pleased with the outcome I love how you can still see all the textures of the wool in the foil.

im keeping this short as its my 3rd post of today!
so...

A little Treat..

So for Christmas a couple of years ago my parents got me some pink and white polka dot cutlery set, and my little sister loves them, so I decided I wanted to get her a set, but I wanted to make them a little more special as they will be her 1st proper set. Exciting times! - she's growing up so fast..

So ive found this fab website, run by a girl called Kayleigh, she makes a wide variety of things made from clay, such as jewellery, buttons, cutlery and lots of other fun unique things. She's does things to personal taste, you can choose your own colours and designs, so I placed my order for some funky , colourful and girlie cutlery and she made them within a week! sent me pictures to make sure I liked them, which of course I do, I hope my little sister loves them as much as me, now waiting for the cheque to be sent and the money to be received and then they will be in the post, I cant wait for them to arrive.

just a sneak peak!

You can find all Kayleigh's stuff on her face-book page : Kayleighs Craftyness, I'm sure she'd love to hear from you as well, but please bare in mind she is a student, so her studies are important.
I hope you enjoy her stuff as much as I do :)

I'm seeing spots.. or should I say dots ?

So in surface pattern,
we have been set a project brief of SPOTS.DOTS.AND.CIRCLES.
we were told to be as imaginative as possible and come up with loads of unique ideas..
as much as I had to take this project brief serious, I had lots of fun, and I'm really pleased with some of my outcomes.

using spots.dots.and.circles. in textiles.

or on a phone cover..
the possibilities are endless..

Surface pattern..

OH POLO..

or not so yummy.

I wouldn't advise eating that polo, not only cause its stuck down with glue,
but its been dipped in pink ink, to produce this unique pattern..

LOVE LOVE LOVE.....so pleased with the outcome as its fun, unique and a good use of materials available.
I just hope the tutors love it as much as I do :)

Alpaca Wool!

I can guess what your thinking..
Another Textiles based post!.. yeah I know. But this blog is meant to be about college work and just recently, ive been  blogging about my personal life, so ive got to add a few post to keep the tutors sweet! haha. :)

So anyway.. today while I was in textiles with Angie my tutor, she introduced me to some fab new wool, it wasn't just any standard sheep or goats wool.. it was Alpaca Wool, SOOOOOO SOFT! it was really nice to use as it pulled apart easily and you could make each section as thick or thin as you liked. I decided to mix it up with some brown and cream wool, which gave of a fab effect. I didn't get much done as it was close to home time :( but ill defiantly be using it again.

I'm really pleased with how its turned out so far, and I cant wait to continue with it!
will keep you posted with the progress!

Happy blogging,

Weaving..

So today, I was meant to be in print making, but due to the classroom being so small our class of 22 couldn't all fit in, so I had to go off and do something else.

I decided to do some weaving, it was very therapeutic, me and my tutor sat and listened to classical music on radio three. I really enjoyed it as I was free to experiment with different techniques and materials.

It was really nice to work on a one to one basis with my tutor today, as I was able to get as much help as i needed, plus lots of advise, and a good old natter about all things textiles! I honestly couldn't think of a better way to have spent my Tuesday!

just a sample, trying out different techniques.
