Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine

Merry Christmas everyone!

so the past couple of days have been pretty busy for me.

I silly enough left all my shopping till the day before xmas eve,, so as you may guess town was so busy, but it was defiantly worth it as i got to spend the day with my gorgeous bestie, shopping, coffee and a cheeky McDonald's! by the end of the day id got about 10 shopping bags, very achy feet and red hands from my heavy shopping bags! i couldn't wait to get on the bus for a sit down, i cant believe we both managed to spend the day in town and not buy ourselves one single thing! - we were so proud of ourselves :) so after returning home, i spent the next couple of hours wrapping presents, all with matching bows and ribbons.
so by about 6 o'clock all i wanted to do was sit down and relax, but no that wasn't on the cards,, i had to make sausage rolls, admit ably they were worth the time and effort it took to make, but at that moment in time while making them it just seemed such a chore.

as Christmas Eve arrived i started feeling more and more excited,, although to my dismay i had to go to work for a couple of hours :( , but it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be, everyone was in a lovely christmasy mood! chocolates were shared, and best wishes were exchanged, and soon it was time to go home. but first a trip to visit Ashley's grandparents as we'd been meaning to pop round and see them for a while and to my surprised, they'd got me a Christmas present, which i was rather excited about, i just wanted to open it, i sat trying to guess what it was but there was only a couple of hours to wait, so i gave up and left it for a surprise. next was off to see Ashley's parents, unfortunately his mother wasn't there, but this gave his father Michael the opportunity to show off what he'd brought Angela(Ashley's mother) a new mobile phone, he seemed to proud of his buy. Off home we headed to watch some TV and snuggle up for the night.

Christmas day is here! unfortunately we were up at four o'clock to find that Santa was yet to come, so back to bed we went for a couple of hours and woke up and he'd finally been. We opened our gifts from each other,, i received some beautiful perfume, beauty and the beast on DVD - a childhood favourite and last but not least a chocolate reindeer which if I'm honest, Christmas wouldn't have been complete without it! As from Ashley's grandparent's i received the cutest picture of my Ashley ever, which id expressed my love for the 1st time id seen the picture in their house, so i was really touched when they gave it to me!, it sit with pride of place on my bedside table!

Lucky me i get two Christmas's so i boxing day i travelled over to my dads to spend the day with him and his family,, we arrived and opened our presents, lots of money and smellies for me.. but i spent most of the day playing with my little sisters toys, but most of all her new chalk board, which she loved!

well I'm sure you've heard enough for today!
i hope you have a very happy new year!

Its been a while!

so since i last blogged ive been pretty busy,
learning new things,
origami,
knitting,
wrapping awkward shaped presents,, and that's just to name a few!

If i had all day to sit and chat, id tell you about them all i would,, but today the main point of this was my knitting. so here it goes.

A couple of Wednesdays ago i sat in my tutorial watching one of my tutors knit and that's when it struck me, that id love to learn, so the next week, we sat down and he taught me to knit, I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't the easiest thing in the world, but with a little stressing and patients i final got the knack for it,, and well, it became my obsession,, any chance i had i was knitting, on the bus to college, lunch breaks, watching the soaps on TV, i think i practically knitted where ever and when ever i could, even if i had a spare 5 minutes id out my knitting and do a couple of stitches. And that's when the idea came to mind,, i was going to knit my little sister a scarf, so off to the shops i went and brought the cutest pink wool i could find, and i started to knit the scarf, my week evolved around knitting, i knitted on the bus, in the car, on lunch breaks etc, and after two and a half days,, the scarf was finished. I considered wrapping it up and saving it for Christmas, but i couldn't resit temptation so i gave it to, her, just in time for the snow.
two days after id given it to her, it tipped it down with snow, which was the perfect opportunity for her to wear it.

Lifes just a blur.

More lens based work..
so it may be getting a little boring for you readers now, but i have to do this for my college work :) .

so on wednesday i went out and about around college with my beautiful nikon and took some photographs with a difference, i wanted my pictures to have a distorted / blur effect, so i set my camera onto the night setting, which means my shutter speed is slower,, i also turned off the flash.... so once my setting were sorted off i went taking picture.... Although on my travels i got some funny looks, i think this may be because of my funny technique,, while taking the photos, i was shaking and twist my camera/ lens to distort the pictures..

so once id got a good profile of about 70 pictures i went back to the computer room and picked out my 20 favourites, and uploaded them to photoshop and edited them like the prevous pictures,, adding different layers etc..

once id layered all the images i played around with the colour settings and text.

heres what id consider to be one of the better outcomes.

lifes just a blur.

Lens based

Last week during my lens based lesson, we used photoshop to layer three images to make one final photo,
i really enjoyed this as it was a new skill to learn. for my picture i used three photographs of paige on a swing set, although this was a good idea, due to the different tension on the swing it made the pictures ofut of line slightly. luckily its not overly noticeable but you can still spot it if you look hard enough.

i think im seeing three, ones bad enough!

theres more to come!

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow :D

So yesterday after unfortunatly not being able to get into college due to the snow, me and my boyfriend (Ashley) did a little bit of home study with tea and toast but enough of that and onto what i started to write this blog about.. we decided to have a little break from study and venture out into the snow and build a snowman.. so on went the coats,, well mine,, and gloves ,, and off we went, dog in toe. so what started off as a tiny snowball soon grew to be a massive snowball, and so we made another two slightly smaller ones,, but then came  the problem that we couldnt lift them onto the body,, so we had to break them and start again .. so once the snowman was made, next was his features.. like all snowmen he had a carrot for a nose and twigs for arms, we wanted to do it traditionally with some coal for eyes and a mouth,, but we couldnt find any so we settled with stones for eyes and red berries for a mouth.. last but not least a snowmans not a snowman without a hat or scarf,, unfortunatly,, we couldnt find a hat big enough to fit on his head.. but the scarf was a success :) we also gave the snowman a new look by giving him specs and a tie, but it just wasnt the same so we stuck with the scarf.

so heres what you've all been waiting for a few snaps of our snowman, who by the way still doesnt have a name, so suggestions will be considered greatly :).
Happy Bloggin! x

Pinhole photography.

So in photography, we've been learning about pinhole photography, ive come across some intresting artists, such as justin quinnell and katie cooke, who both have completly different styles of work, Justin quinnel, uses very different methods for his pinhole work, such as putting his camera in his mouth and taking pictures of what he see's, or in some cases what he eats! katie Cooke's work is based around portraits, she takes alot of photographs of moving people which give off a very blured effect. we where set the task to make our own pinhole cameras and take photographs with them, unfortunatly mine didnt turn out to well :( ** sob** but i did happen to get one picture which i am particulary pleased with, i then scanned in to photoshop and played with the settings and edit it, and see what cool effects i could come up with.
This is one of the outcomes. I hope you enjoy!

Sister bonding.

So this is a recent photograph of my little sister Hope and Myself. Unfortunatly i dont live with my sister, so i dont gets to see her as often as id like, so when i do get to see her, we spend alot of time, bonding, for some this may include reading storys ( like the picture above), going to the park, or spoiling her with sweets and chocolate. For Hope and myself, its doing art work, over the past year and a half shes grown up watching me drawing and producing art work, and this has obviously had a huge influence on her, as when i sit and do some work, she insists on getting out her crayons and doing some drawing along side. we've recently been set a college project to fill a book of drawings, and for the first time, ive decided to include her in my work. im going to give her some colours and let her loose and see what she comes up with. Hopefully it will be a great success, Keep a look out for the up and coming pictures or the final outcome.
