my artist book..

I find myself struggling to fill my artist book, as I haven't done something everyday, so there's quite a few blank pages in my book.

I keep trying to find something to do, but it just doesn't seem to happen, I put it down to living in a tiny village with nothing much to do .. and pretty much no transport to get anyway .. :( and + ive been working like constantly and there's only so much you can write/draw about the co-op!

so here's just a few snaps of my work so far..

painted out in the fields.
 I really like this image, the natural colours are so beautiful, and I really like the textures. Although im really pleased with the outcome, now I think I should have used natural materials, such as mud/dirt, grass, im totally considering going out and re-doing this image, what do you think ?.. I was also considering using the quote
A great wind is blowing, and that gives you either imagination or a headache " but im not sure i like it.. does it kill the beauty of the image ?.. opinions please!

a new beginning
So the day before I made this page id had a pretty bad day, and someone quoted this to me, and if im honest they are so right.. so when your having a bad day always remember tomorrows a new day, a new beginning.
I made this page by ripping dates out of a diary and sticking them onto a page in my book. unfortunately id already wrote the quote on the page, before id come up with the idea, but im considering covering up the text and writing over the diary pages ? what do you think would look best?..

well that's all I have to show for today!

T-Shirt Printing.

Model = Jodie Wright :)
Clothes = T-Shirt - printed by oneself,
               Skirt - hooch
So at college ive been T-shirt printing, its still work in progress but if im honest im so pleased with it so far, I just had to show it off. - For all that cant see the design its a beautiful butterfly print, made from etching into plastic and using inks to print onto the fabric. The next step for the t-shirt is to make a similar stencil to cover the back panel of the t-shirt.
Keep an eye out for the updated version.

Artist books

So some may say that summer has come early in more than one way.. Firstly the beautiful weather we've been having! please don't let it go! and also to my advantage college have given us another 6 weeks off college for various reasons.. setting us a project with no rules. okay well one .. make a Artist Book.

"Artists' books are books or book-like objects over the final appearance of which an artist has had a high degree of control; where the book is intended as a work of art in itself." Stephen Bury

within this project we have no boundaries, we can do what we want, how we want. I think id go as far to say this is probably the best project we been set this year.

Ive decided my theme is going to be : yesterday today tomorrow
Ive taken alot of influence from Kurt Schwitter, I really like his style of work, as it is very cut and paste/ collage.
I took influence from this particular piece as Schwitter has taken stamps, letters and photographs, that all have links to one another and made it into one piece.

so for Today's page in my book its going to be based around 'The royal wedding'
I intend on including, the Union Jack, today's date, a photograph of William And Catherine and other objects/slogans that have influence on today's occasion.

well before I head off, im very sorry for not being about just recently, ive been very busy, but im back now and will hopefully keep things up to date.

Foiling.

A weaving update!
so excited.

So on Friday, in weaving, we completed my previous piece of weaving ( the alpaca wool) and then decided I wanted to add foil to it, but instead of ruining my 1st piece I made a small sample of the same style of weaving to foil over. I'm so pleased with the outcome I love how you can still see all the textures of the wool in the foil.

im keeping this short as its my 3rd post of today!
so...

A little Treat..

So for Christmas a couple of years ago my parents got me some pink and white polka dot cutlery set, and my little sister loves them, so I decided I wanted to get her a set, but I wanted to make them a little more special as they will be her 1st proper set. Exciting times! - she's growing up so fast..

So ive found this fab website, run by a girl called Kayleigh, she makes a wide variety of things made from clay, such as jewellery, buttons, cutlery and lots of other fun unique things. She's does things to personal taste, you can choose your own colours and designs, so I placed my order for some funky , colourful and girlie cutlery and she made them within a week! sent me pictures to make sure I liked them, which of course I do, I hope my little sister loves them as much as me, now waiting for the cheque to be sent and the money to be received and then they will be in the post, I cant wait for them to arrive.

just a sneak peak!

You can find all Kayleigh's stuff on her face-book page : Kayleighs Craftyness, I'm sure she'd love to hear from you as well, but please bare in mind she is a student, so her studies are important.
I hope you enjoy her stuff as much as I do :)
